Pound Cake

Ingredients

1 1/2 cups white sugar

1/2 cup butter

3 eggs

1 1/2 cup flour

1/2 cup whipping cream

1 tsp vanilla

pinch salt

Procedure

  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F
  2. Grease and flour a loaf pan.
  3. Beat the sugar and butter together until light and fluffy.
  4. Whisk in eggs, one at a time beating well after each addition.
  5. Add half the flour, then the whipping cream, then the rest of the flour.
  6. Add the vanilla and salt and mix.
  7. Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  8. Bake for 1 hour and 15 minutes. Check doneness with a cake tester (you can use a knife or a wooden skewer). The cake is fully cooked if the tester inserted in the middle of cake comes out clean.
  9. Let the cake cool in the pan for at least 30 minutes.

Notes

  • This recipe is great for using up whipping cream or whipping cream that has been frozen and thawed and separated (don’t throw it out!).
