Mochi Sesame Balls

Ingredients

2/3 cup hot water

1/3 cup yellow sugar

2 cups glutinous rice flour (Mochiko)

frying oil

1/2 cup of anko

1/2 cup sesame seeds

Procedure

  1. Mix together the sugar and water and stir until the sugar has melted.
  2. Place the glutinous rice flour into a bowl.
  3. Add the sugar water into the flour and mix until combined.
  4. Bring the dough together
  5. Cut the dough into about 12 pieces.
  6. Roll out 12 balls of anko, 1 tablespoon at a time, and set aside.
  7. Flatten each ball of rice flour dough and wrap a ball of anko with the dough.
  8. Roll into a ball to seal the seams.
  9. Roll it into a bowl of sesame seeds. If the dough has dried out moisten the ball with a little water and press the seeds into the dough.
  10. Heat your frying oil to 350°F.
  11. Fry for 12 – 15 minutes or until golden brown.

Notes

  • Remember to check the temperature of the frying oil frequently and turn the balls over in the oil to achieve even frying.
